We are searching for an architectural sales (specifications) manager, who will work out of our Charlotte, NC location, playing a key role in our sales and marketing team by serving as a local specifications representative while managing and leading two other specifications representatives in the Carolinas.

This position is best suited for one who can leverage already established relationships, build new ones and promote our premium product lines with existing and prospective designers, architects and others. You are critical to our success and this role is not for the faint of heart. You will be a true road warrior, working remotely and on the road most of the time visiting firms, while coaching and mentoring our other two specifications representatives and working closely with the rest of our sales and marketing team.

Planning and leadership skills are vital for success in this role, as is the ability to understand technology and put on effective presentations.

Responsibilities

  • Craft and executive a specification business development plan which cultivates existing architects and designers while pursuing and acquiring new ones to meet quarterly and annual targets in specified territories. Work with the other spec reps to help them use this to craft individualized plans.
  • Achieve market expansion and business development targets by successfully managing the specification team and own territory and working with sales management and marketing.
  • Manage recruiting, objectives setting, coaching and performance monitoring of spec representatives to help drive annual business development and sales objectives, while maintaining target gross margin.
  • Solicit and obtain feedback from spec. reps and share that with the Sales Manager regarding new product offerings.
  • Support spec. reps in identifying strategic A&D firms within the company’s regional reach. Support them in systematically profiling each prospect to identify key influencers with whom to establish relationships.
  • Build and maintain relationships with existing prospects and A&D firms. Develop specification strategy for prospect A&D firms.
  • Work with spec. reps to identify and secure specifications from applicable accounts. Ensure that all prospects are up-to-date with product samples and literature.
  • Regularly review progress tracking of product specifications. Work with applicable spec. rep, Sales Representative and chain of architects, designers, owners, GCs and fabricators to defend specifications

Requirements

  • 3+ Years Product Sales/Representative Experience, MS Office, Computer Proficiency – Laptops & Mobile Devices
  • Must have demonstrated consultative selling skills and skills creating and developing long-term specifier (A&D firm) relationships
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
  • Has strong planning, organizational, and territory management skills.
  • Requires daily travel. Occasional overnight travel.
  • Excellent references.
